Web & Mobile Applications

Customer-facing web and mobile products, from interface design through to release on the app stores.

Design decisions are cheap on a drawing and expensive in a sprint, so screens and states are settled before implementation starts. That is the whole reason this service is separated from Software Development: consumer-facing products live or die on interface decisions that are hard to reverse once built.

From the first week there is an installable build. A product that only exists on a developer's machine cannot be judged, and judging it early is the point.

At release you receive the source, the build pipelines, the design files and the store access needed to publish the next version without us. Intellectual property in the result belongs to the client on payment.

What you receive

  • A released application on the platforms agreed at the outset
  • Interface design files and a documented component library
  • Source code and build pipelines, transferred in full
  • Release documentation, including store listings and update procedure

Engagement and fees

Typical duration
Eight to twenty weeks to a first public release
Engagement models
Fixed-scope first release · Design-only engagement, where development is done in-house · Monthly retainer for continuing releases
  • Fixed fee per release, quoted from the agreed product definition
  • Daily rate for design-only work
  • Monthly retainer for an agreed capacity

How we work

  1. 01

    Product definition

The audience, the core task and the platforms are settled first, along with what the first release will deliberately leave out.

  2. 02

    Interface design

Screens and states are designed and reviewed before code is written, so that disagreements happen on a drawing rather than in a sprint.

  3. 03

    Implementation

Built in reviewable increments against the agreed design, on a build pipeline that produces installable versions from the first week.

  4. 04

    Release

Store submission, release notes and the handover of everything needed to publish the next version without us.
